Williams produces enough energy from the Piceance Basin in northwestern Colorado to heat more than 2.2 million homes each day. But it makes us prouder to do it — as much as humanly possible — without being noticed. By retrofitting deep-water offshore technology high in the Rockies, we’re now recovering huge volumes of natural gas while taking up much less land — preserving the terrain’s natural radiance.
And Williams experts like Ty Chaffin (pictured above) continue to dig deep to find energy reliably, intelligently and inconspicuously. Our use of 3-D directional drilling dramatically reduces surface footprint, meaning up to 22 different wells can be tapped from the same rig.
What’s more, through continued best practices, we’ve eliminated as many as 26,000 water-truck trips, reduced surface disturbance by 70 percent and increased natural gas drilling efficiency by up to 30 percent. Careful and innovative application of technology also allows access to energy in very delicate and pristine environments of the Rocky Mountains. There’s no unconventional reserve that can’t be mastered by natural gas experts at Williams.
In the ongoing quest for energy, Williams applies the latest technologies imaginatively, to find, produce, gather, process and transport natural gas more responsibly. And we will never compromise the environment or our integrity to obtain the energy needed to fuel this country. Responsible energy development is more than just a promise at Williams. It’s daily practice.
